Peri NGO’s founding words were written down in the autumn of 1987, when a group of Turku-based photographers founded a photographic gallery, Peri 8, on Rauhankatu in Turku. Today, Peri is an important regional Photographic Centre promoting and exhibiting contemporary Finnish photography.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary Peri publishes a book about the eventful history of the organisation. The NGO also organises an exhibition and a festive 30-year anniversary event in fall 2017. The anniversary event and the book launch also commemorate the birthday of the first Finnish photograph, taken by Henrik Cajander in Turku on 3th November 1842.
